Welcome to For Kid’s Sake Child Care and Learning Center Web Site!

We are glad you have stopped by to visit.  At this web site you will find an extensive amount of information about our King of Prussia, PA care center, which was co-founded by the King of Prussia  Chamber of Commerce at Valley Forge.  On this site you will also find information to help parents understand the rules governing child care, information on locating, evaluating and solving problems with child care.   Good Luck in your search for quality child care!!!

Summary of the FOR KIDS' SAKE DIFFERENCE

For Kid's Sake Child Care is 'different' in many ways from other child care centers.  Explore the differences!

For Kids' Sake Child Care & Learning Center is here for out families and our care providers.  Our approach to providing excellent care for children is different.  It starts with the beginning: this center was founded because the owner (a parent) could not find quality care for her son.  Insane!  Especially in King of Prussia - which is not an 'economically' challenged township.  The owner did not come from the child care industry, so instead the answer 'that is how care works' we said 'how should child care work?'.  The foundation is based upon 'this is how child care should be' with some good business sense on how to ensure rates are as reasonable as possible and quality is as high as possible.   Now this has led to some interesting developments over the years.

1. When we first started most centers would not give you price information over the phone.  We not only give them over the phone we publish them on our website.  More and more centers have followed this practice.

2. PA Governor Rendell has added a number of programs that has enabled and encouraged the quality of child to care to improve.  Learn about Keystone Stars! This center is in the star program.

3. PA Governor Thomas Ridge helped ensure this center stayed in existence with the Child Care Challenge Grant Program, using mostly federal dollars.

4. Survey's of people who inquired but never visited the center indicate they opted to visit and enroll in other centers because our costs was 'too low for King of Prussia'.  They fear our lower costs indicate a lower quality.  We believe (and our parents will confirm) we just manage to provide higher quality care at a lower cost.

Summary of our Philosophy

In the following pages, you will be able to read a lot about us and our center, but the only way to really know what kind of care we provide is come visit and spend some time with us.

Every day at For Kid's Sake we strive to create a warm, caring environment for everyone–-the children, their parents and our staff.  You are welcome to spend a few minutes, hours or days getting to know us.  We encourage all parents to bring their children in for familiarization visits, to join our Parent Advocacy Committee, to be a guest story reader or to just spend a few extra minutes at drop off or pickup time.

If you have any questions please ask Sandi, our director or any of our staff members.  If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this web site, our center or other services we can offer please let us know.  We truly want your input.  You can email our Director, Sandi at Sandi@forkidssakecc.com or our Owner/President, Pat@forkidssakecc.com.   We love to hear what we are doing well and suggestions on ways to improve or new programs to add.

We see childcare as a team effort and everyone's input is important to our success.  Though teamwork we all continue our journey in life - teaching and learning, every step of the way.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the best quality child care. We are dedicated to providing children with a place they can learn and grow. We aim to provide children with a warm, caring, safe environment that allows them to reach their full potential. We seek to help the children in our care through a play and learn environment that supports their physical, emotional, social and cognitive developmental needs.

Company Profile

This center was established in 1992 as a YMCA child care center.  In March of 2000 the YMCA announced they were closing the center.  A parent at the center stepped forward and purchased the center.  On May 1, 2000 the center was renamed For Kid's Sake Child Care & Learning Center.

Most of the staff stayed through the transition and have stated they are extremely happy with the new center management.  The staff has grown, as the center has been growing ever since the change over.

We are staffed by wonderful, caring & dedicated team members.  Four staff members have degrees in early childhood education, one has her CDA and two others are currently enrolled in early childhood education degree programs.

Biographies of all teachers are posted.

Our Curriculum

We offer a program that provides a safe and nurturing environment.  We work to promote the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of the young children in our care.

Our curriculum is theme based.  Teachers come up with the themes and use them to find activities that meet their objectives.  With themes and supporting help from center management, the teacher prepares age-appropriate lessons.  Weekly Lesson Plans are posted in each classroom.

Our curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development:
Ø      Physical: Helping children increase their large and small muscle skills and feel confident about what their bodies can do.
Ø      Emotional: Helping children experience pride and self-confidence.  Helping children develop independence, self-control and to have a positive attitude toward life.
Ø      Social: Helping children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends and to feel they are part of a group.
Ø      Cognitive: Helping children become confident learners by letting them test their own ideas, experience success and by helping them to acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their thoughts and feelings.

The activities we plan for children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, interact and talk with children, are all designed to help give your child a successful start in life.

Key Highlights

bulletOur build is secured by electronic keyfobs, allow us to control access key by key, thus if a family leaves the center with out returning a key we can disable the key in seconds.
bulletWe will not release a child except to the "normal" drop off / pick up person(s) unless directed to do so by this person(s).
bulletOur facilities is professionally cleaned four times a week, this greatly reduces the spread of germs and disease.
bulletWe have extremely low staff turnover, which greatly improves the sense of security and well being of the children entrusted to our care.  We do extensive checks on all employees, require significant on going training and have a great number of staff with degrees or in degree programs (currently 10 of 16 staff members have degrees in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education or are actively enrolled in programs)!  The state requires 3 staff members for our size center.
bulletAll of our staff are kind, loving and here because they love children and want to be here - this is not 'just a job'.
bulletThe children paint, glue, play with sand and play-dooh.  Many of the things parents want their children to do, but with parents not having to deal with the mess.
bulletWe have computers with age-appropriate software in our Young Preschool, Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten rooms. Children are helped in learning how to use the computers; computers are integrated into the daily lesson and the amount of time a child is allowed to spend at a computer is limited to ensure they have a balanced day.
bulletOur staff is very well-trained.  We exceed the state requirements for degreed personnel, the number of staff trained in First Aid & CPR and the number of continuing education training hours by staff members each year.
bulletWe have two safe, outdoor playgrounds.
bulletWe have a onsite bi-weekly Gym classes.  Each age group has an individual age appropriate class beginning with the two year olds.  This class is run by an outside company specializing in your child gym and loved by all.
bulletWe have music class by "Dan Dan The Music Man" every other week.  The children love this inter-active music class.
bulletWe hold special monthly events for the enjoyment of the children, parents & staff.  For example, in June we held a summer barbeque, in July a "Day at the Beach" party & in August a "Hawaiian Luau".  A great time was had by all and for those parents who could not attend (and for those that could stop by) we have the video tape to share.
bulletWe frequently take pictures of the children during their days at the center, we display the pictures for a few weeks at the center and then we distribute them to the parents.
bulletWe offer two weeks of "vacation" without pay, per year (September to September year).
bulletWe offer a 2% discount to parents who pay monthly, instead of weekly.
bulletWe offer 12% sibling discounts on the first sibling and 15% for each additionally sibling.
bulletWe accept the state subsidy program payments without charging parents the difference.
bulletWe have an Open Door - if your child attends our center, you are welcome anytime the center is open.  If you are reviewing our center, you are welcome to stop by anytime to see us, with or without an appointment (however access to the building is controlled for the security of the children in care).
bulletWe have Monthly Newsletters to help ensure parents are well-informed about happenings at the center.
bulletWe publish an annual calendar so you can plan ahead to attend the center events, know when the field trips are, know when parents meetings are, etc.  We sell the calendars for cost ($5) and beside keeping you informed they are full of pictures of your little darlings over the preceding year!
bulletWe have a Parents' Meeting every six weeks  to help us better manage the center, with input from parents.
bulletWe are always open to suggestions for ways to improve our center.
bulletWe have a parent email list to help us communicate with parents.  We email the monthly newsletter, special notices, parent meeting minutes, etc. using this list.
bulletParents can receive statements via email upon request.
